POSITION SUMMARY

Schoenrock Hydraulic is currently seeking an experienced production manager (Produktionsleiter, Meister/-in Produktion) for their metal fabricating operations in Hamburg, Germany. This is an excellent opportunity for a manufacturing leader who desires to make a difference in the life of a company and its employees by transitioning their operations environment into one that is professionally managed with “world class” processes and procedures.

This position will have the full support of the managing director and ownership in order to achieve the objectives of the position.

THE POSITION

The position will oversee all manufacturing personnel within the company. Currently this number stands at 15, spread among various sections such as welding, assembly, electrical, hydraulics and painting.

The primary operational objectives of the position are as follows:

• Even out the workload through anticipatory production planning. Ensure that 100% on time delivery occurs with ample margins for unexpected errors or surprises.

• Enable management to know the exact costs of each project through written summaries of each project noting all production/process costs (i.e. direct/indirect labor) and noting areas for future improvement.

• Achieve zero percent quality defects through regular inspections and established process controls.

• Create and maintain a clean shop where resources (i.e. machinery, stock, tools) are optimally placed in order to reduce costs.

• Establish and manage a stockroom where incoming quality standards are present, inventory costs are known and all employees follow established guidelines for usage.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The new production manager will oversee all production planning and scheduling within the plant. They will determine the level of labor (fixed and rental workers), materials and parts needed to meet necessary delivery times for each project and will insure that these are in place and ready for utilization at the correct time.

They will frequently communicate with the technical department to insure the correct product is being built according to customer specifications and will respond immediately to any changes in the scope of supply. They will maintain up to date build lists and oversee all production document control.

The new production manager will prepare a written report for each project completed, enabling management to know what the actual costs were for each door produced, including labor, materials and parts.

They will oversee all aspects of quality control within the facility, including incoming quality, quality inspection of finished assemblies and regulatory testing of the watertight door systems.

The new production manager will oversee the stockroom in an orderly and cost efficient manner. They will have established processes to insure all stock is properly accounted for and recorded in a manner that easily enables quarterly valuation.

Motivating, empowering and developing a talented workforce will be of tremendous importance in this position. The right candidate will have a background in building similar teams within prior employers.

PERSONALITY AND MANAGEMENT STYLE

The new production manager will be creative and passionate for identifying new ways to reduce costs throughout the manufacturing process. They will be progressive and have a vision for the future, always keeping an eye open for new machinery, new tools or new production techniques that might improve the operations of the company.

Able to motivate others towards action. Can read people and know how to encourage others to put their best work forward.

Additional traits: Conservative and has high morals. Follow through.
